How much does it cost to ship a car?
Most shipments cost $600 to $1,800. Short regional moves start around $450, and coast-to-coast open transport for a sedan is usually $1,400 to $1,800. See the cost guide or get an instant price.
Do I pay anything upfront?
No. Locking your rate is free. A booking fee is charged only after a carrier is assigned, and the balance is paid to the driver at delivery.
How do I pay the driver?
Most drivers accept cash, cashier's check or money order, and some accept Zelle. Your coordinator confirms the payment method before pickup.
What is the Locked Rate Promise?
Once you lock a rate, it holds for 30 days. If we can't find a carrier at that price, we cover the difference.
Scheduling
How long does car shipping take?
Pickup usually happens within 1 to 5 days of your first available date. Trucks cover about 450 to 500 miles a day, so coast to coast takes 7 to 10 days.
Can I choose an exact pickup date?
Standard service gives a pickup window. For a guaranteed date, choose expedited shipping.
Do I need to be there?
You or someone 18 or older you trust must hand over the keys and sign the inspection at pickup and delivery.
Your vehicle
Is my car insured?
Yes. Every carrier carries cargo insurance, included in your price. Damage must be noted on the Bill of Lading at delivery.
Can I leave personal items in the car?
Up to 100 lbs in the trunk is allowed on most carriers. Items aren't insured, so leave valuables out.
Can you ship a car that doesn't run?
Yes. See inoperable vehicle transport.
Do you ship to Alaska and Hawaii?
Yes. We truck the car to a port and it travels by ocean vessel. These routes are quoted separately.
